LIVE DEMO on Saturday the 13th of March
Presenter:  Skeets Cummings

Windows Messenger & Remote Assistance

There are two programs that have long been a part of the Windows program, reaching back at least to Win 95 and maybe more, that are really very powerful but have been utilized basically only by technicians.  They are Window Messenger, which is now Windows Live Messenger, and Remote Assistance.

The Messenger program can be used to great advantage between computers for transferring very large files that normally would not be accommodated by email programs.  It also can be used, with speakers and also microphones to have direct conversations over the internet, although normally it is set up primarily as a text messaging program.

The Remote Assistance, and this is not Desktop Assistance which you may have heard about, is used to allow someone, technician or you buddy, to (1) see what you screen is doing while you’re running and explaining some problem on the computer and (2), if you give that other person permission,  allow them to run your computer from a remote location

MEETING FORMAT:
The CSWF Regular Meetings are usually held during the 10:00 a.m. until 11:50 a.m. period.  During this period we normally have the Computer Round Table Discussions.

The last 20 minutes of the Regular Meetings periods may be reserved for either, 1) scheduled Business Meetings; or 2) Presentations and Discussions with the CSWF Projector.

MEETING DECORUM
Visitors and members should feel free to come in to or leave our meetings at any time during the meeting period, as long as they do so quietly.  And meeting attendees are respectfully requested to get up and go outside for one-on-one conversations with other attendees, or to respond to cell phone calls; so that their personal discussions won't disturb the other attendees who are participating in the group meeting.

POST-MEETING LUNCHES
After the meetings, attendees are invited to attend a no-host luncheon at a location decided on by the members following the meeting.

VISITORS

Visitors are welcome to attend most meetings and, at the discretion of the meeting moderator, may be permitted to participate during the Round Table portion of the meetings.
